Be a Presenter at BookCon!
In addition to a Scholastic Book Fair curated for grades 6-8, students are invited to present during the BookCon on Saturday. All presenters will receive a free 100% grade in ELA or Humanities, and be eligible to win a $25 book fair gift card. If your student is interested in participating, they can sign up here by November 4th. (Must use a school email to sign up and be available between 12:00 - 4:00 on 11/14.)
How Can You Help?
Middle Schoolers will lead the planning and coordination of the event, but we’ll need a hand from our families too! Sign up to help out with event support here.
We Need More Books!
You can also contribute to the Books for All program to ensure every kid takes home a book regardless of funds to shop at the fair. Please drop off your new or gently used books in the front office.
Where Are the Proceeds Going?
All funds raised from the event will go directly back into the Monarch Library. Students on the Middle School Library Committee will use the school’s Library Collection Development plan and standards to purchase new titles to expand and update the books for their grade levels.

Magnolia Middle’s Student Council Library Committee is leading the planning and Coordination of Read the Room. Students are participating in promotional efforts, logistics, scheduling, merchandizing, and will be responsible for using the proceeds raised at the fair to select new Middle School level books for the Library’s collection. They’ll use the Collection Development Plan, student insight, Texas TEA title acquisition criteria, and starred review sources to recommend new books for purchase.
